1/ Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training

Medical research involving human subjects is strictly controlled by the Medicines Control Council of South Africa and Ethics Committees. It is mandated that the research team be well versed with the International (ICH) and SA Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

The GCP Basic workshop is an introductory 1-day course that will give a detailed overview of clinical research, the current ICH and SA GCP guidelines and the process of conducting successful clinical trials from start to finish. Certificates are issued on the successful completion of an open book post-course assessment.

2/ Leadership Development: CREATING A HEALTHY CULTURE AT THE WORK PLACE

Culture is a norm or values that inform us on how to behave. This does not come as an abstract but is always in place because certain individuals practised it and people started to follow them. It can be either healthy or not and when healthy it produces positive results. What we all yearn for is to be valued members of a winning team. We are in search of belonging, trust and esteem in order to self-actualize. Research has shown that the brain signals to us that our potential can never be fully realised unless we are part of a healthy group.
How do we then create such a healthy group? What is the role of belief, virtue and ethics in creating such a group? How can we be remembered as valued individuals while members of a group. These are some of the topics that will be presented and discussed in this seminar

3/ Statistical Methods for Clinical trials training

Clinical trials are the most important evidence based studies in epidemiology. It involves the evaluation of a medical treatment such as drug and vaccines in humans. Classic randomised controlled trials are the benchmark of evidence based assessment of efficacy and safety of a given treatment. To reach to a correct conclusion, rigorous statistics are needed to translate trials data into information for policy and implementation of decisions. Therefore, we will cover basic concepts of clinical trials, clinical trial design, sample size estimations, data management strategies and robust statistical analysis applications in at least four of the previous clinical trials studies
