Welcome Message from the conference organizer

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure and an honour to extend to you a warm invitation to attend the International Conference on Phytotherapy and Islet Regeneration for Diabetes – IC-PIRD 2019, to be held October 25 – 27, 2019 at the Cape Town Lodge Conference Centre, Cape Town, South Africa.

The treatment of diabetes involves studies around basic aspects of pancreatic islet function to research in clinical aspects of type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Despite, diabetes still a prevalent disease affecting young and old individuals of both developed and developing countries. However, developing world nations are rich in biodiversity and indigenous knowledge particularly ethno medicinal practices.  The IC-PIRD 2019 Conference represents a unique opportunity to network and exchange knowledge with international colleagues and trainees in an intimate environment, regrouping researchers, scientists, clinicians, chemists, biochemists, molecular biologists, morphologists, phytotherapists, diabetes societies and associations.

The theme of the 2019 Conference ‘Perspectives of Medicinal plants as potential Antidiabetic remedies: Biomolecular and Chemical values’ will underpin the need for collaboration and cooperation of individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds. We are planning three full days of cutting-edge research talks, lively poster discussions, and networking. There will be presentations from established leaders, emerging new investigators, as well as both graduate and post-doctoral trainees in the field of diabetes therapeutics.

I am looking forward to meeting you in Cape Town in October 2019 at what promises to be a most stimulating and enjoyable event.

With best wishes,

Venant Tchokonte-Nana, PhD
